Powder coating is a method of applying a durable finish to metallic products. It is a decorative coating that is electrostatically applied to a surface as a finely ground powder which is heated so that it flows over the metal and creates a consistent covering over the surface.
The result is a uniform, durable, high-quality and attractive finish which is resistant to scratches, cracking, peeling, UV rays and rust.
Trotters can powder items up to 6.5m long. Our powder coating involves the following steps:
1. Abrasive Blasting
Sandblasting chemical stripping and/or solvent cleaning to ensure the surface is free of oils, dirt, rust or foreign matter.
2. Pre-treatment
The product is treated with chemicals to further clean, protect and prepare the substrate with a surface that enables good adhesion of the powder coating.
3. Rinsing and Drying
4. Powder application with electrostatic guns
5. Curing
Heating the product particular metal temperature for a selected period after which the product cools and the
coating forms a high quality, durable finished surface.
